The sealing principle of LF2 flange
The two sealing surfaces of the bolt squeeze the flange gasket to form a tight seal, but this can also damage the tightness of the seal. To maintain a tight seal, a huge bolt force needs to be maintained. Therefore, the bolt should be made larger, and larger bolts need to be matched with larger nuts, which means that larger diameter bolts require the creation of conditions for tightening nuts. However, it is not the case that the larger the bolt diameter, the better. Because the larger the bolt diameter, the more suitable the flange will bend, and only the wall thickness of the flange part can be increased. The entire equipment requires a large size and weight, which has become a particular problem in the environment. In this case, weight has always been a major concern. In addition, the LF2 flange is a failed seal. 50% of the bolt load is required to squeeze the gasket, and 50% of the load is needed to maintain the pressure.
The LF2 flange not only saves space and weight, but also protects the joint from leakage and has excellent sealing performance. The size of the compact flange is reduced by decreasing the sealing diameter, thereby reducing the cross-section of the sealing surface.
The sealing ring is used instead of the flange gasket to ensure that the sealing surface matches the sealing surface. In this way, the sealing surface can be compressed with only a small amount of pressure. As the required pressure decreases, the size and number of bolts also decrease accordingly. For this reason, a new product with small volume and light weight (70% - 80% less than traditional flanges) has been designed.
